How to Check Your Pets Weight at Home in Simple Steps

Having too much or too little weight can harm your pet health. Pets that are too heavy are more likely to get heart disease, joint pain, or diabetes. Too thin pets may not be getting enough food or have underlying illnesses. Keeping an eye on your pet weight daily can help stop these problems before they worsen.

Baby scale for small cats. A kitchen or baby scale can be used to weigh cats and kittens that are not too big. Put a soft towel or a small bowl on the scale to get it to zero. And then put your cat on it carefully. Write down how much it weighs.

Use a scale to correctly record small changes for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, or birds. Put a small bowl or box on the scale and carefully put the pet inside it. Always start with a zero on the scale.

If your pet’s ribs, spine, or hip bones are clearly visible or protrude sharply, they may be too thin. Even though some cats are naturally thin, bones that can be seen are often a red flag. Your pet might not be getting enough food.
